Bring your client list, files, client trust listing, trial balance and unpaid invoices across in an afternoon. We help for free, check that your trust listing matches your trust bank, and do your first month's reconciliation with you.
We go through your uLaw reports with you, check the column mapping and the preview, and fix any rows that don't fit before anything is imported.
Each client's trust balance comes in as a balance carried forward on your conversion date, not as a new deposit. Client ledgers add up to the trust bank on the first day.
At the end of your first month we do the three-way trust reconciliation with you: bank statement, trust journal and client ledgers.
Run each report as of the same day, usually a month end you've already reconciled in uLaw. Excel or CSV both work, and report titles and total rows are recognized and skipped.
| From uLaw | In TodoLegal |
|---|---|
| Client list | Contacts, matched by email then name |
| Matter (file) list | Matters with folders, your old file number kept as the reference |
| Client trust listing | Each client's trust balance, carried forward on your conversion date |
| Trial balance | Your operating bank opening balance, and a check against the trust bank |
| Unpaid invoices / receivables | Opening receivables, not new revenue |
Nothing is written until you have seen the preview, and re-running never duplicates anything.
A month end you've reconciled in uLaw. Every report is run as of that day.
5 reports from uLaw, as Excel or CSV.
We check every row, and that your trust listing equals the trust bank on your trial balance.
Balances carry forward on the conversion date. We reconcile your first month with you.

No. Every paid plan is month to month and you can cancel any time from Plan & billing. You can export your data whether you stay or leave.
Yes. The importer records each client's trust balance as a balance carried forward on your conversion date — not as a new deposit — so your client trust listing in TodoLegal starts from the same numbers as your last listing in the old system. You then reconcile your first month against the bank statement as usual.
Export your client list, matter list, client trust listing, trial balance and unpaid invoices from uLaw as of one month end, in Excel or CSV. The importer reads them as they are, checks that the trust listing matches the trust bank balance on your trial balance, and carries everything forward. Migration help is free, and we do your first month's trust reconciliation with you.
Outstanding invoices come in as opening receivables, not new revenue, so your income isn't counted twice. HST on them was already accounted for in your previous system.
No. TodoLegal keeps your trust records, invoices and general ledger in order, but your accountant still prepares your tax returns and year-end, and you remain responsible for your Law Society filings. Most accountants find the reports easier to work with.
Most small practices import in an afternoon: export files from Clio, LEAP, uLaw or PCLaw, upload them, check the column mapping and the preview, and run. Re-running is safe — nothing imported twice.
