Bring contacts, matters, unbilled time, trust balances and open invoices across from Clio's data export. We help for free and reconcile your first month with you.
We go through your Clio reports with you, check the column mapping and the preview, and fix any rows that don't fit before anything is imported.
Each client's trust balance comes in as a balance carried forward on your conversion date, not as a new deposit. Client ledgers add up to the trust bank on the first day.
At the end of your first month we do the three-way trust reconciliation with you: bank statement, trust journal and client ledgers.
Run each report as of the same day, usually a month end you've already reconciled in Clio. Excel or CSV both work.
| From Clio | In TodoLegal |
|---|---|
| Contacts | Contacts, matched by email then name |
| Matters | Matters with folders, your Clio number kept as the reference |
| Activities (unbilled time) | Time entries ready to bill |
| Trust balances per matter | Trust balances carried forward on your conversion date |
| Bills with a balance owing | Opening receivables, not new revenue |
Nothing is written until you have seen the preview, and re-running never duplicates anything.
A month end you've reconciled in Clio. Every report is run as of that day.
5 reports from Clio, as Excel or CSV.
We check every row: missing clients, bad amounts, unknown matters.
Balances carry forward on the conversion date. We reconcile your first month with you.
Published prices in Canadian dollars, before tax. Month to month, no annual commitment. Migration help is free on every plan.
No. Every paid plan is month to month and you can cancel any time from Plan & billing. You can export your data whether you stay or leave.
Yes. The importer records each client's trust balance as a balance carried forward on your conversion date — not as a new deposit — so your client trust listing in TodoLegal starts from the same numbers as your last listing in the old system. You then reconcile your first month against the bank statement as usual.
Outstanding invoices come in as opening receivables, not new revenue, so your income isn't counted twice. HST on them was already accounted for in your previous system.
No. TodoLegal keeps your trust records, invoices and general ledger in order, but your accountant still prepares your tax returns and year-end, and you remain responsible for your Law Society filings. Most accountants find the reports easier to work with.
Most small practices import in an afternoon: export files from Clio, LEAP, uLaw or PCLaw, upload them, check the column mapping and the preview, and run. Re-running is safe — nothing imported twice.
